Google Ads that turn into calls and bookings

Sept 24 to 30, 2026: my business's Google Ads brought 16 calls and bookings at $18.62 each. I judge every change by that number.

Where ad money leaks

These are the leaks I check for first:

  • Google is told to get clicks, not calls or bookings, so that's what it buys.
  • Broad keywords pull in searches for jobs you don't do, or people looking for work.
  • Ads show outside the area you serve.
  • Every ad lands on the homepage instead of a page about what was searched.

An account built around calls and bookings you can count

Before a dollar is spent, I make sure we can see what each call and booking cost.

  • Conversion tracking for phone calls, form submissions and online bookings, so Google learns what a good call or booking looks like.
  • Keywords and negative keywords built from the services you sell and the area you cover.
  • Ads that say plainly what you do and where, sent to the page that matches the search.
  • A weekly look at the search terms, so wasted spend gets cut early.

Ads bring the visit. A booking page that takes payment and a current Google profile help turn it into a job.

What it looks like at my own business

These are my business's own numbers from its Google Ads account. Google counts every call from an ad, repeat callers included, so read them as calls and bookings, not new customers.

In the week of Sept 24 to 30, 2026, $297.97 of ad spend brought 14 phone calls from the ads and 2 completed online bookings.

You own the account and pay Google directly

The ad account is in your name and your card pays Google for the clicks. My monthly fee covers running it: tracking, changes and the weekly check.

Questions

Is ad spend included in your monthly fee?

No. You pay Google directly for clicks, from your own card on your own account. My monthly fee covers setting it up and running it.

How much should I spend on Google Ads?

It depends on your trade and how far you travel. We work it out on the free call. I'd rather start small, prove what a call or booking costs, and then spend more where it pays.

Who owns the Google Ads account?

You do. I work in it as a manager, and you can see everything and remove my access at any time.

How soon will I get calls and bookings?

Ads can start running within days of Google approving them. The first few weeks are for learning what works, and you'll see what every call and booking cost from the start.

Can you fix the campaign I already have?

Yes. I start by checking the tracking, because an account that counts the wrong thing can't be tuned. Then I clean up keywords, locations and ads.
